Share Of Exports Of Goods And Services In GDP Increased To 21.4 Per Cent In 2021-22 From 18.7 Per Cent In 2020-21: Govt

The share of exports of goods and services in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased from 18.7 per cent in 2020-21 to 21.4 per cent in 2021-22, the government informed the Parliament on Friday (29 May).

In 2020-21, India’s export of goods and services was at Rs 37,04,533 crore, while the GDP figures stood at Rs 1,98,00,914 crore.

The export of goods and services from India in 2021-22 were recorded at Rs 50,63,885 crore while the GDP numbers stood at Rs 2,36,64,637 crore, according to the information provided by Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, the overall share of goods exports in GDP increased to 13.3 per cent in 2021-22 from 10.9 per cent in 2020-21.

Engineering goods constituted 3.53 per cent of the share of the goods exports in the annual GDP in 2021-22, followed by petroleum products (2.13 per cent), gems and jewellery (1.23 per cent), organic and inorganic chemicals (0.93 per cent) and drugs and pharmaceuticals (0.78 per cent).
