Single window clearance for agro-based industries, special incentives for ST-SC and differently abled entrepreneurs : Jharkhand CM

Ranchi, July 9: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren has directed for single window clearance for even agro-based industries to boost investors in this sector.

“There is enough scope for investment in the agro-based industry sector especially food processing sector and there is a need to give incentives to attract investment. The state needs to have a single window clearance for even agro-based industries to attract more number of investors in this sector,” said Hemant Soren while reviewing the industry department performance at Ranchi on Friday.

Chief minister also stressed on professional running of Jharcraft as it is the identity of Jharkhand in the handicraft sector.

“There is good quality of products available in Jharcraft and there is enough demand for their products too. However, the products are not getting that much market suiting their demands and this gives rise to a need for professional management of Jharcraft so that products market linkages are increased. There is a need to develop market strategies of Jharcraft products in coordination with industry experts  for increasing market share of Jharcraft products,” said Soren.

He also stressed that working conditions of Jharcraft artisans also needs to be improved and a proper mapping of all such artisans needs to be done.

He also pointed out that there are enough scope of lac and Tasar industry in the state but not much work has been done for development of these two sectors in the state.

“The department needs to constitute a research and design team to examine what are the opportunities and market available for lac and tasar products and how more such centers can be established in the state,” said Soren.

Meanwhile, chief minister Hemant Soren during a review meeting of the industries department at Ranchi on Friday stressed on the constitution of an investment promotion board, making an action plan for execution of one district one product (ODOP), investment in industrial parks and forming of a MIS for survey of beneficiaries of Prime Minister Employment Generation Program.

The Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (JIPP) 2021 which got a nod from the state cabinet on Tuesday will focus on 15 sector specific priority sectors.

Of these 15, seven are in the high-priority or focus sectors, namely  textile and apparels , automobile, auto components and electric vehicles, agro-food processing, meat processing industries, pharmaceuticals, electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM).

The remaining eight are in priority sectors namely startup and incubation centers, education and technical institutes, healthcare, tourism, IT and ITes, breweries and distilleries, renewable energy and high and medium engineering.

“The new promotion JIPP will be in effect for five years. Through this policy, the government aims to fetch investments worth Rs 1 lakh crore in the state and provide employment to 5 lakh people.  The state government will provide subsidy upto Rs 50 crore and additional subsidy of five percent for SC-ST, women and differently abled,” said chief minister Hemant Soren while reviewing the industry department activity at Ranchi on Friday.

The chief minister said that government is keen on providing incentives to ST and SC entrepreneurs to help them establish units  in the state.

The industry secretary Puja  Singhal said that ST and SC entrepreneurs are giving priority during allotment of lands in the industries parks being set up in the state along with subsidies.
