Maharashtra allocates Rs 10 crore for development projects in Airoli

NAVI MUMBAI: Acknowledging the demand put forth by former state minister and Airoli’s BJP MLA Ganesh Naik, the state government has allocated a special development fund of Rs 10 crore and ordered its speedy release for a number of developmental works across Airoli constituency covering areas from Digha to Koparkhairane.

This was confirmed by Naik, who added that his emphasis will be prioritising the basic civic amenities, such as water supply, sewerage, health, education and sanitation.

Since civic election is round the corner, the BJP-Sena government in the state has extended a helping hand to senior BJP leader Naik to carry out various developmental works with a hope to win the hearts of the voters in the impending civic body polls.

According to Naik, the funds will be utilised for various developmental works in different nodes, slum pockets, industrial zones and villages under Airoli Assembly constituency. The works include construction of a skywalk across busy Thane-Belapur road that will connect Digha railway station on the Trans-Harbour line, which is on the verge of being functional soon. This will help commuters avoid jaywalking and reach the upcoming railway station safely. The skywalk will be built at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

A sum of Rs1 crore will be also be appropriated for concretisation of a road near Mukund Steel to help decongest traffic and give relief to residents of Digha, Ishwar Nagar and Anand Nagar. An existing fish market will be revamped at Sector 1, and will be reconstructed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. An amount of Rs 1 crore will be spent on building the Jai Bhawani Market in Sector 3.

Residents of Sector 7 in Ghansoli have been demanding a health centre for affordable treatment, for which Naik has set aside a sum of Rs 2 crore. The civic health centre will come up on plot number 6. Besides, Rs 2 crore will be channelled to extend the structure of a school at Advali-Bhutavli village near Mahape which is predominantly a tribal pocket. A night shelter will be built on plot number 26 in Sector 2, Koparkhairane, at a cost of Rs 2 crore. A water distribution network in Rabale has also been proposed with a fund of Rs 1 crore.
