Tata Steel’s e-sports camp begins today, will end on June 8 | Ranchi News


Jamshedpur: The sports department of Tata Steel will begin a multi-discipline online sport camp from Monday to provide opportunity to young and budding talents to hone their skills sitting at home amid the Covid-induced lockdown. Officials said the event is in line with the Centre’s Fit India initiative and will be open for all across the globe.
The sports camp, commencing from May 17, will end on June 8. It will organise events of football, cricket, zumba, archery, climbing, yoga, archery, athletics, golf, roller skating, table tennis, badminton, basketball, chess among other disciplines comprising indoor and outdoor sport.
One event will be scheduled daily during the camp, which will be held on all days except Sunday.
Participants in the camp will receive basic induction from expert coaches on 19 different sports disciplines through specially-curated videos that are available on the Tata Steel corporate website and YouTube channel every morning from 5am onwards. Participants can access for more details about the event, said officials.
“The camp is accessible across the globe free of cost. It primarily caters to children in the age group of 6-18 years,” the company said in a statement.
Notably, the company is organising the camp for the second consecutive year after it received overwhelming response it the first edition held in 2020. The first edition was a major success with more than 40,000 views across platforms on videos of all disciplines.
“Yoga was quite a hit in the first edition. I am eagerly looking forward to the start of the camp,” said 28-year-old life insurance executive Aditya Kumar.
“In the view of the second wave of the virus, the company is leveraging digital to connect with the potential sports talents which is a very good initiative,” said ex-cricketer B N Chaubey, who runs Jharkhand Cricket Academy, in the city.
