PN Rao, the Bengaluru-based textile and tailoring company, has launched a book, celebrating its centenary. The coffee table book is named A Saga of Needle and Thread and it showcases the origin, evolution and legacy of the brand.

The brand was founded by Pishe Narayan Rao in 1923, since the family had been in the tailoring business since the British Raj.

The book is authored by Aliyeh Rizvi and is filled with family stories and anecdotes. The work highlights the brand-building qualities that enabled and helped build the PN Rao brand.

The grandson of PN Rao, Ketan Pishe, said that the book is a tell-all on the legacy of his grandfather. “It took us around nine months to finish the book, after extensive interviews with family members, vendors, employees and even customers. The book offers different perspectives of people coming together and making this legacy. A truly emotional experience,” he further added.

Stating how Bengaluru as a city had an impact on the company, Naveen Pishe, PN Rao’s grandson elaborated “As the economy grew and more colleges and IT centres came up in the city, the demand for suits grew too and hence the business found its home in Bengaluru.”

The book is priced at Rs. 2000 and will be available online as well as in bookstores.
