UK Jewellery Festival content programme revealed

The UK Jewellery Festival is delighted to reveal the full programme of content ahead of this year’s September event.

The festival will present a line-up of industry experts and retail speakers at content sessions taking place throughout the day.

This content will be offered free for all attendees to the festival and is in addition to the trade event, which presents a carefully curated boutique buying experience at a pivotal time of year.

The full programme for the day is outlined below.

Small changes can make a big difference: The journey to carbon neutrality

September 2022 will mark 12 months since independent jeweller John Pass Jewellers became an accredited carbon neutral business in accordance with the PAS 2060 global standard. In this session Retail Jeweller editor Ruth Faulkner catches up with company director Andrew Pass and Eddie Fitzgerald-Barron director of environmental consultancy C Free, to hear about the jewellers’ journey to carbon neutrality, why other small business might like to consider doing the same and how small changes really can make a big difference.

The changing face of diamonds – From the question of provenance to the rise of laboratory-grown: What retailers really need to know

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February, the issue of provenance reared its head for the global diamond industry once again. With major brands and luxury conglomerates leaving the RJC as a result, many have been left wondering whether consumers will start asking difficult questions about the origins of mined diamonds. Why has the industry not yet got to grips with provenance across the entire diamond supply chain and how should retailers respond to customer questions on the subject? Plus, with laboratory-grown diamonds fast becoming the favoured option for some consumers, how can retailers successfully sell both side-by-side and what should they be advising their customers?
