Union Minister – Rameswar Teli Hails ONGC’s Role In Development Of Northeast

Agartala, August 01, 2022 : The Union Minister of State (MoS) for Petroleum & Natural Gas – Rameswar Teli on Sunday commended ONGC’s pivotal role in boosting the growth and development of the Northeast region of the country through its energy operations.

Teli on Sunday visited the Badharghat Base Office Complex of ONGC Tripura Asset as part of his brief visit to Agartala. A meeting was held at ONGC Tripura Asset’s office premises with senior officers and representatives of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Tripura Natural Gas Corporation Limited (TNGCL).

Addressing the meeting, Teli said “ONGC remains a very vital entity in the country’s energy ecosystem and its domestic oil and gas business remains an important driver of grassroots development and growth of local industries and businesses in many corners of the country.”

He also pointed out how ONGC’s vibrant gas business in Tripura is steering this beautiful state on the path of sustainable growth and said he was hopeful that the Maharatna Company, through the use of technology and its skilled manpower, would tap and unlock more commercially viable gas resources in other parts of the region such as Meghalaya.

The Petroleum Minister also appreciated ONGC’s efforts in the realm of CSR activities, primarily geared towards the inclusive development of the society as well as preservation of heritage and environment.

Welcoming the union minister to ONGC Tripura Asset premises, the Executive Director and Asset Manager Tarun Malik said that his visit will provide a boost to the morale and motivation of ONGCians of Tripura Asset working in different corners of the State, at production installations and drilling sites.

He said that as the pre-eminent energy explorer of the country, ONGC continuously strives to have a positive impact wherever it goes – be it through its oil and gas E&P activities or its robust CSR program. “ONGC in Tripura today not only provides the gas that powers the industries and homes of the State, but also has a comprehensive CSR budget focused on education, healthcare, women empowerment, livelihood support and preservation of native heritage among others”, he said. Looking ahead, he said, ONGC Tripura Asset is excited about the prospects of a boost to the economy in the State with the upcoming IGGL pipeline, slated to commence operations in 2024.
