Upsida Allocates ₹456cr For Industrial Areas’ Development, ET Infra

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has allocated a budget of Rs 456.28 crore for development of civil and electrical infrastructure in 93 industrial areas across 46 districts in 2023-24.

An official said that this is the first time that such a ‘huge budget’ has been proposed for upgradation of industrial areas. For development of infrastructure in Paschimanchal region, Rs 206.57 crore has been allocated, while Rs 152.29 crore has been allocated for Mandhyanchal, Rs 74.46 crore for Purvanchal and Rs 22.96 crore for Bundelkhand. Besides, Rs 25 crore has been approved by the government under the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission (AIIM) scheme for upgradation of industrial areas of UPSIDA in 2022-23.

Rs 302.33 crore will be spent on civil works, Rs 153.95 crore on upgradation of electrical infrastructure, Rs 183.97 crore on the development and upgradation of roads and drains and Rs 32.63 crore on the development of common facilities in industrial areas. The drainage system will be upgraded with an estimated expenditure of Rs 21.66 crore, while Rs 11.88 crore will be spent on flood protection measures.

“There is a plan to construct entrances in 17 industrial areas at a cost of Rs 8.63 crore. Water supply, sewerage system and Common Effluent Treatment Plant will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 18.04 crore. Rs 18 crore has been sanctioned for fire stations in 28 industrial areas. Electrical installations will be upgraded to new, energy efficient LED lights and LED high masts at an estimated expenditure of Rs.50.68 crore. UPSIDA is constructing a 220/33 KV substation at Trans Ganga City, Unnao at an estimated cost of Rs 85 crore,” the official said.

The authority will also be carrying out renovation of office buildings, common facility centres and administrative buildings at a cost of Rs 6.25 crore. Facilities like ramps are being introduced in these buildings for the differently-abled.

Mayur Maheshwari, CEO, UPSIDA, said, “At present, three places have been identified for the construction of dormitories for women, at Sandila in Hardoi, Kosi Kotwan in Mathura and Mussoorie Gulvathi in Hapur. UPSIDA is integrating its industrial sector infrastructure data with PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan Portal for multimodal connectivity.”
