Vande Bharat train in Kerala pelted with stones, Infra News, ET Infra

KOZHIKODE: A suspected incident of stone pelting was reported on the newly launched Vande Bharat Express when the train passed Tirur railway station in Malappuram district on Monday afternoon.

According to Railway officials, the glass window pane of seats 63 and 64 of C4 coach developed cracks due to stone pelting. The incident was reported at 5.05pm after the train left Tirur station.

Shoranur Railway Protection Force at Shoranur railway station registered a case and an inquiry is under way into the incident.

RPF officials said that the passengers saw the crack in the glass window pane and reported in to the TTE. Railway officials examined the coach when the train halted at the next stop at Shoranur.

Palakkad railway division officials said that it has been decided to strengthen the security for the train in the backdrop of the incident.

The first Vande Bharat Express train allotted for the state was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 25.
