Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company opens new truck gate facility

Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC), part of Global Ports, has put into operation a new automobile entry complex (AVK), connecting the terminal with the road Artyom – Nakhodka – Vostochny port.

The new facility, combined with the adjacent road infrastructure, will allow the terminal to handle up to 900 trucks per day, which will amount to about 340,000 TEU per year.

The new entrance complex includes the infrastructure of the state border checkpoint, including buildings for employees of state control bodies and terminal security services, a covered inspection area and open parking for cars and trucks, pedestrian galleries for safe passage to the administrative buildings above the railway tracks and roadway.

The complex is equipped with modern security systems, access control, video surveillance.

The volume of Global Ports investments in the construction of AVK and the accompanying reconstruction of the terminal infrastructure amounted to more than 350 million rubles ($6 million).

The entrance complex adjoins the Artem-Nakhodka-Vostochny port highway and is connected to the main road network by a new overpass through the railway tracks of the Nakhodka-Vostochnaya station.

The automobile viaduct was built at the expense of the federal budget within the framework of the project ‘Development of the transport hub Vostochny – Nakhodka (Primorsky Territory)’.

“The expansion of automobile capacities is a consistent step in the development of the Far East terminal of Global Ports as a strategic link in the logistics chains for the import and export of goods,” said Albert Likholet, CEO of Global Ports.

“The launch of a new entrance complex will make it possible to increase the throughput capacity of VSK by 10 times for receiving and issuing containers by road. This will provide even more efficient cargo handling and will contribute to the development of the Primorye-1 international transport corridor between the northern provinces of China and the ports of Primorsky Krai.”

In January the firm announced it will install two new Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbor cranes at VSC.

Global Ports Investments PLC (Global Ports) has registered a 22.6 per cent decline in container throughput for the first half of 2022, as Baltic ports have suffered a significant loss due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
