Yilport Holding’s container terminals handled 3.4 million TEU in the first half of 2022, a massive 36 per cent growth on 2021 figures.
The 3,412,604 TEU handled globally is as a result of new services such as those in Turkey, where Yilport Gebze and Gemlik terminals welcomed new calls from MEDKON Lines, CMA CGM and Maersk.
During the first six months, Yilport terminals in Norway and Sweden sustained their position and recorded 7 per cent and 3 per cent container growth respectively, leading to 5 per cent overall growth in the Nordic Region.
The Iberian terminals in Porto & Lisbon in Portugal, and Huelva & Ferrol in Spain started to grow faster after expansion projects and investments. The Iberian region terminals managed to record 5 per cent growth in containers and 25 per cent growth in ro-ro volumes.
Yilport Leixões grew by 4 per cent with 360,978 TEU handled.
Liscont container terminal in Lisbon recently started operations with 4 new STS cranes and 3 new automated RTG cranes. The new equipment brought 13 per cent growth in container volume and 32 per cent general cargo growth. As an important highlight, Algeciras Canaries (ACX) service of X-PRESS Feeders line started to call Yilport Ferrol.
In the Iberian region, Yilport completed a €43 million ($44 million) investment in Leixões and €130 million ($133 million) investment will be completed by end of 2023. In Huelva, Spain, the 4 new STS cranes delivered this year had increased the berth capacity.
In Latin American terminals, Yilport Puerto Bolivar recorded 26 per cent growth with 100,000 TEU driven by the shift to containerisation.
Yilport Paita in Peru handled 138,000 TEU and Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala handled 98,000 TEU.
“Yilport Holding aims to keep the growth trend in H2-2022 to reach another record-breaking golden year. The company is in talks with port authorities in many countries in Latin America, Africa, Europe and Turkey for more than 10 port projects in order to rank among the top 10 global container terminal operators by 2025,” Yilport Holding wrote in its announcement.
In November 2021 Yilport Gävle Terminal in Sweden received three highly-efficient and environmentally friendly ship-to-shore (STS) Portainer cranes from Paceco Group to increase its competitiveness.
