NAGPUR: In a major boost for ongoing cement road works in the city, the state government has released Rs300 crore for concretizing tar roads under phase-IV of the project undertaken by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

“Under phase-I, II and III, NMC has already cemented a total of 100-km roads. Due to the cement concreting of roads, maintenance work during monsoons has been reduced significantly and the cost of maintenance too has come down,” said NMC chief engineer Rajiv Gaikwad.

Under Phase-IV, the NMC is going to convert 23.45km of roads in 14 packages from tar to cement.

The government has given its nod to the works of a total of 33 roads recently. Collector Vipin Itankar too has granted administrative approval for the works.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) too has initiated the process to invite tenders for the work.

Gaikwad said the civic body has elaborate plan to complete the said project by the end of year 2025.
