When we experience trauma, the nervous system gets into fight or flight mode. In order to make the nervous system feel safe and relaxed, we need to ensure that we are in a situation that is healthy for us. “Starting slow is crucial, often times I will first have clients visualizing doing things prior to even doing them, especially if they are in a Dorsal Vagal state,” wrote Therapist Amber Trejo.
