41 Died In Road Accidents Every Month In Nagpur Rural Last Yr, ET Infra

NAGPUR: Every month 41 people died in 492 road accidents in Nagpur rural district in 2022 and earned the ignominy of being placed at the 7th position from among the top-10 cities of Maharashtra.

As per the data released by the State Highway Safety Patrol Police ‘Maharashtra road crash report-2022’ published this week, Pune rural topped the chart with 923 deaths. Nashik rural with 912 deaths stood closely behind at number two, followed by Ahmednagar (841). Chandrapur ranked at the bottom of the top-10 chart with 434 deaths. The data was prepared under the supervision of the additional DG, Maharashtra state traffic, Ravinder Singal.

Nagpur rural, though among the top-10 in 2022, this year has seen only 377 fatal accident deaths till November this year given the sustained anti-traffic violation drive by SP Nagpur rural Harssh A Poddar, who took charge of the district some months ago.

Nagpur rural police had witnessed a seesaw effect in the numbers of the accidents for the last few years with an increase in vehicular movement. In 2020, there were 379 deaths in road accidents which rose to 479 in the next year.
