Two steel flyovers under SRDP by Dec 2022

Hyderabad: Work is progressing at a steady pace on two steel flyovers in the Bagh Lingampally-Indira Park area, a region considered to be where the old and new versions of Hyderabad meet.

The facilities include a 2.62-km four-lane bidirectional elevated corridor between Indira Park and VST being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore and a 850m three-lane bidirectional elevated corridor from Ram Nagar to Bagh Lingampally, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 76 crore. These two projects are being built under the State government’s Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), with the expected date of inauguration being December 2022.

According to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials, the two flyovers offer multiple benefits and ensure a smooth commute for scores of people. They are expected to decongest traffic from Indira Park to VST Junction and Ram Nagar to Bagh Lingampally. Besides this, the project reduces travel time and allows free flow of traffic towards Hindi Maha Vidyalaya and Osmania University. Officials also said traffic through the busy RTC X-roads Junction, Indira Park X-roads, Ashok Nagar X-roads, Bagh Lingampally Junction and VST Junction would move smoothly.

Most of the foundation of the Indira Park-VST flyover has been laid and the rest will be completed once the utilities passing through the spot are diverted. These include six Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board pipelines, an overhead power line and high tension line poles of the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited.The GHMC, which has so far acquired 33 properties for the projects, is expecting to complete the utility shifting within two months.
