[ad_1]

The mines ministry has approved the purchase of two new surveyor ships, which will replace the ageing RV Samudra Shaudhikama and RV Samudra Kaustabh and conduct marine surveys for the Geological Survey of India (GSI), said officials.

The survey will focus on seabed mapping and exploration of non-living resources in the offshore sector, exclusive economic zone and international waters, they said.

The RV Samudra Shaudhikama and RV Samudra Kaustabh were built in the Netherlands and commissioned in 1984.
