Tata Motors announces dark edition of Nexon EV, Nexon, Harrier, Safari. Price, specs, and other details

Tata Motors has unveiled the Dark Edition of its popular Nexon EV. The carmaker has also annnounced the dark editions of Nexon, Harrier, and Safari facelift. These special editions have undergone cosmetic changes to sport a sleek and blacked-out appearance. The bookings for these vehicles will commence shortly, and interested buyers can make their bookings online or by visiting their nearest dealership.

While the details of each variant are yet to be shared, the prices for the Dark Editions have been announced. The Nexon Dark Edition will start at Rs 11.45 lakh, the Nexon EV Dark Edition at Rs 19.49 lakh, the Harrier Dark Edition at Rs 19.99 lakh, and the Safari Dark Edition at Rs 20.69 lakh (all prices Ex-showroom).

The Dark Edition SUVs boast an exclusive all-black exterior shade, along with #Dark badges adorning the vehicles. Additionally, they feature blacked-out front grilles, roof rails, outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs), and alloy wheels. Other than these changes, the SUVs remain identical to their standard versions.

The interiors of the Nexon and Nexon EV come in a black theme, with black leatherette seats embroidered with ‘Dark’ lettering on the headrests. On the other hand, the Safari and Harrier Dark Editions flaunt a Blackstone interior theme paired with Piano Black inserts, and leatherette upholstery with ‘Dark’ lettering on the headrests.

The Nexon EV Dark Edition, powered by a 40.5 kWh battery pack and a 143 BHP electric motor, boasts a claimed range of 465 km on a single charge. Notable features include vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-load connectivity, a suite of in-built apps, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an all-digital instrument cluster, front, and rear light bars, a nine-speaker JBL sound system, blind-spot monitor, 360-degree camera, connected car tech, and a sunroof.

The Nexon is available with two engine options – a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol engine offers a choice of 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the diesel engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT automatic transmission.

On the other hand, the Harrier and Safari Dark Editions are equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, generating 170 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Key highlights of these editions include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, welcome and goodbye animations, seven airbags, a 10-speaker JBL sound system with Harman AudioworX, dual-zone temperature control, rear window shades, a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats for the first and second rows.
