Aerotropolis to be built next to Noida airport on 6,500 acres, ET Infra

NOIDA: The Noida aerotropolis will cater to both residential and industrial needs, boasting of state-of-the-art infrastructure to support a diverse range of themed developments, including an innovation and tech hub, commercial centres, a logistics hub, hospitality options and recreational and entertainment areas, according to YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh.

The hospitality sector will play a prominent role in the aerotropolis’s development, with plans for hotels, service apartments and professional offices.

As part of the innovation and tech hub, YEIDA plans to establish a biotechnology park, research and development centres, as well as information and software technology zones.

Within the commercial development, there are proposals for constructing shopping malls, exhibition halls and showrooms. Space will also be allocated for warehouses, freight complexes and logistics parks.

Officials have proposed flexibility for multiple land use in both the hospitality and industrial sectors.

Officials said the aerotropolis’s height restrictions – set at 20 metres by the Airports Authority of India – are expected to encourage more development on the ground.

The aerotropolis was first proposed at YEIDA’s meeting on the township’s Master Plan 2041 in March last year. According to the master plan, the city-side development around the airport will offer efficient connectivity for executives and professionals to distant markets. Additionally, clusters of hotels, entertainment options and retail establishments will serve both travellers and the local community.

To address healthcare needs, there are plans for medical and wellness centres within the airport’s city-side development.

Apart from the aerotropolis, the UP government is also planning an Olympic Park across 1,100 acres in Sector 22. One of the two components of the park will be an Olympic City, with 29 arenas dedicated to different Olympic sports to be built there.
