Alia looks drop dead gorgeous in black mermaid gown, wins Best Actor at Filmfare | Bollywood

Alia Bhatt turned out to be the star of an awards night in a strapless black gown on Thursday. The actor not just ruled the red carpet in terms of style and looks but also bagged the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) award at the Filmfare awards. She won the trophy for her performance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Gangubai Kathiawadi. Alia looked stunning in the black mermaid Tony Ward gown with a hint of shimmer. She was styled by stylist-producer Rhea Kapoor. The latter shared pictures of Alia’s look on her Instagram account and wrote, “@aliaabhatt tonight for @filmfare, giving me instantly classic movie star moments.” She had her hair neatly tied at the back.

Fans of Alia loved her style and hailed Rhea for the same. A fan wrote, “She effortlessly continues to nail every style, she’s the definition of sexiness.” Another wrote, “Finally someone who is doing justice to Alia with good styling.” One more said, “She’s never looked this good!” “This look is just gorggg!!” said yet another fan. A person also commented, “Divine. Loved her always, but yes this is like metamorphosis..”

Besides Alia winning the Best Actor award, Gangubai Kathiawadi almost swept the awards show with wins in multiple categories. It won Best Film along with Best Director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Gangubai Kathiawadi revolves around a maiden sold by a suitor into prostitution and how she becomes a prominent and celebrated figure in the underworld and Kamathipua red-light district. Alia played the titular role in the film and was highly praised for her performance, with many calling it the best one in her career.

Just a day before, Alia had attended another awards event in a check pantsuit paired with a blue formal shirt and tie. That look was also styled by Rhea Kapoor.

Alia is now all set to make her debut at the upcoming MET Gala and with her recent appearances on the red carpet, she has already raised the expectations of her fans. She will next be seen in her debut Hollywood film Heart of Stone and Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
