Amazon onboards 35k retailers, Retail News, ET Retail


Pune: E-commerce major Amazon has onboarded 35,000 retailers in the state on its platform through its programme ‘Local shops on Amazon’. The programme was launched in 2020, which attracts retail shop owners to list their business on the platform for increased sales and presence.

The company has retailers from Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Thane, Satara and Nagpur. The sellers belong to various categories, including kitchen, apparel, grocery, electronics, major appliances, home and furniture. At national level, the company has onboarded 3 lakh retail shop owners in 344 cities. The sellers can continue to sell through their own online and physical modes in addition to the company’s platform. They can also fulfill orders received from other platforms using the company’s logistics channel, head of the Local Shops division at Amazon India, Abhishek Jain said.

The companyplams to increase the number of local shops on its platform ahead of the festive season.

The small and medium businesses saw a strong sales on the Amazon Prime sales day as 90,000 sellers received orders from members, a statement said. tnn
