Relationships between restaurants, farms gave Athens the nod

Peat & Pearls founder T.S. Strickland told the Banner-Herald that Athens was chosen as a supper club city because of the interconnectivity between restaurant owners and their relationships with the farms that supply the ingredients for the food.

“(Peat & Pearls) is really trying to build community in each of these cities around folks who have a similar set of values,” said Strickland. “Athens has a critical mass of people who really care about good food, but also care about where their food comes from.”

Puma Yu’s chef and co-owner Pete Amadhanirundr, who recently won his second consecutive title at the Athens Farmers Market Sliced! competition back in July, is expected to open his beloved pop-up’s brick-and-mortar location at 355 Oneta St. in August or September with co-owner and mixologist Ally Smith.
