Based on true events, Manso Re’s next to be titled ‘19.20.21’ | Kannada Movie News

Filmmaker Manso Re is certainly one of the leading filmmakers working today in Kannada cinema. Having secured a big hit through his most recent venture ‘ACT-1978’, Manso Re was to next make the period epic ‘Abbakka’, a film based on the valor and times of the 16th century Tuluva queen Rani Abbakka Chowta. However, owing to the pandemic, Manso Re has decided on putting ‘Abbakka’ on hold for the time being and instead announced a new project.

Taking to social media a short while ago, Manso Re spoke at lengths about the change in plans and also announce his next. Titled ‘19.20.21’ (Nineteen.Twenty.Twenty-One), the filmmaker revealed in his post that the film is based on true events and also that the interesting title holds a lot of significance in all our lives.

“The film (‘19.20.21’) isn’t a dream or a story but based on true events. We had wished to make this film a long time ago but things have finally fallen into place now and we plan to start shooting at the earliest so that the film is released in 2022. ‘Nineteen Twenty Twenty-One’ – these numbers hold a lot of significance in our lives… but what is that? And how? I do hope that the curiosity to learn more about his shall sustain till the film comes out. We will soon unveil the cast and technical crew of the film and hope that your love and support shall remain with us throughout,” wrote Manso Re.

The first poster of ‘19.20.21’ reveals that producer Devaraj R., who has previously backed Manso Re’s ‘ACT-1978’, is associated with this one too. Veerendra Mallanna is to pen the dialogues of the film with Satya Hegde handling cinematography.

Not very long ago, a few online reports had revealed that Manso Re had approached popular south Indian actress Sai Pallavi with a story set in the political thriller genre. While Sai Pallavi, reportedly, had liked the script and asked for a final script, the director had requested time to work on the final draft. It would be interesting to see if Manso Re’s latest offing, ‘19.20.21’, turns out to be Sai Pallavi’s launch pad in Kannada cinema – more updates to follow soon.
