Carson, Calif. – Brentwood Originals will soon be guided by just its third chief executive officer in more than six decades.

Loren Sweet

Long-time CEO Loren Sweet announced to colleagues and friends that he has been “accepted into the 2022 Retirement Class” and will step down effective Jan. 1. He will be succeeded by decorative pillow veteran Joy Stewart, who joined the company in 2019 as EVP for sales and marketing and was promoted to president in early 2021.

Joy Stewart

“Joy has been with Brentwood for over two years and has brought an energy and focus to our operations that is invigorating and inspirational,” said Sweet.

Sweet began his career at the former WestPoint Pepperell textile mill organization in 1976 and has spent the past 28 years at Brentwood, which in addition to decorative pillows also makes and ships window treatments, throws, cushions and pads.

“I have much to be thankful for in my career with many great friends, suppliers and customers who have made it such a great ride,” he said. “But I need to give credit where it is due. Brentwood literally changed my life and my family’s lives as well and for that I will always be grateful.”

He described Brentwood’s customers, colleagues, employees and friends as “a wonderful group of people I have had the good fortune to work with in an industry as small as home textiles,” adding: “It was always my goal to have a little fun along the way and you have all made this great journey fun.”
