Cement industry is first hit sector by national strike in South Korea

[ad_1]

Cement factories could not ship on Thursday most of their daily production of 200,000 tons in bulk due to the tanker drivers’ general strike, according to the news agency.

In addition, the strike delayed the delivery of materials to construction sites across the country, and cement producers warned the possibility that operations could be suspended early next week due to delivery problems.

Steel supply disruptions were reported due to the strike to demand better wages and defend the drivers’ labor rights.

It is the second protest staged by the cargo transportation sector in 2022, Yonhap recalled.
