Centre Gives ₹19 Crore To Fix 6.5km Stretch Of Nashik Road, Infra News, ET Infra

NASHIK: The Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned Rs 19 crore for the relaying of the 6.5-km-long, busy Nashik Road stretch between Dwarka Chowk and Datta Mandir Chowk.

This road, which is the gateway to Pune and Shirdi, is in a deplorable state. The public works department (PWD) of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will undertake the work.

The officials said that the tender has been floated to award the work to the contractor, and the work would begin by January next year.

“It will take around one-and-a-half months to complete the tender process and another one month to start the work,” said officials.

“Once initiated, the work will be completed within two to three months,” said officials.

Member of parliament from Nashik, Hemant Godse, said that he has been pursuing the issue with the ministry for a long time, requesting approval for the work.

“The condition of the road had deteriorated. It was also causing frequent traffic jams and congestion. The commuters had to face inconveniences while traveling. It was essential to resurface the road for smooth traffic movement,” said Godse.

“Now, with the approval of MoRTH, city residents will soon get relief from the traffic congestion and potholes on the roads,” he said.

Along with road relaying, dividers and railings on this stretch of Nashik Road will also be renovated. Trees along the roads will also be freshly painted.

Nashik Road residents have welcomed the decision, saying it will reduce the risk of accidents due to the poor road condition.

Prashant Suryavanshi, a resident of Nashik Road, said that a lot of development has taken place in nearby areas in the last few years, and the population has also increased at large here.

“Industrialization is taking place at large in Sinnar industrial areas, and thousands of workers travel from Nashik city to their work destination in Sinnar via Nashik Road on a daily basis. Presently, the condition of the Nashik Road stretch between Dwarka Chowk and Datta Mandir is very bad, causing huge inconvenience to the commuters,” said Suryavanshi.

“We welcome the center’s decision to relay this 6.5-kilometer stretch of Nashik Road that will smooth vehicular movement on the road and avoid traffic congestion,” added Suryavanshi.
