Chennai Corporation commissioner gives deadline to relay roads, ET Infra

CHENNAI: Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner Dr J Radhakrishnan has given officials a deadline of October 5 to complete road relaying work in Mugalivakkam, Madhanandhapuram, Ramapuram and Madipakkam areas.

On Madanandapuram-Mugalivakkam Road, out of the 2,600metre stretch to be restored, a portion of 1,150 metre has been handed over by the highways. The corporation has completed applying wet mix macadam on 1,050 metre. “A 100metre stretch is yet to be restored,” the commissioner said.

He said the remaining 1,150 metre would be relaid by October 5.

In ward 156 of Mugalivakkam, 105 roads have been handed over and relaying of 16 roads is in progress. “Sixty eight more roads will be relaid before the northeast monsoon,” he said.

In Manapakkam’s ward 157, the corporation has completed relaying 55 roads and relaying 28 roads is in progress. The remaining roads will be relaid before the northeast monsoon.
