Signature Series with Focus on Job Opportunities for New Yorkers, Returns to In-Person Programming
The NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) announces three new “Made in NY” Talks for Fall 2022: “Careers in Comedy: Breaking into the Funny Business,” “Career Opportunities: Go Inside Developing and Producing a Streaming Hit” and “Diversity in the Newsroom: Building an Equitable Press.” These in-person “Made in NY” Talks, focusing on job opportunities in comedy, streaming and press, are free and open to the public.
Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, the “Made in NY” Talks series brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. Interested attendees are encouraged to register in advance here. Panels include:

Meet the creators behind OWN and Hulu’s upcoming series The Hair Tales and Disney+’s Growing Up. They share the process from developing an idea and pitching networks and streamers, to what goes into shooting footage and post-production. Newsrooms have increased their diversity efforts in recent years, still, there is a lot of room for improvement. Journalists and leaders in the field talk about the challenging path of amplifying voices and perspectives of communities that have been historically underrepresented in media.
