THANE: Diva will soon sport a new look and give tough competition to neighbouring cities as the state government is initiating multi-crore infrastructure works here, announced chief minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday.
Shinde was in the bustling suburb to inaugurate a slew of infrastructure projects collectively worth over Rs 500 crore, following which he addressed his supporters. He said the suburb that had supported him for the past several decades would now witness a metamorphosis.
“The suburb has assumed importance after it was chosen as the second station on the ambitious Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train route and will see a host of projects, including a revamped water supply system, better concretised roads, city and lake beautification plans, revamp of the popular Khidkaleshwar temple and strong medical facilities, among others. The cluster redevelopment work will also address the issue of illegal and dilapidated structures in the suburb,” he said.
Shinde announced police station for the densely populated suburb and other allied infrastructure following demands made by his son, Shrikant Shinde, an MP.
