Cm To Inaugurate Slew Of Projects In Kochi On Oct 2, ET Infra

Kochi: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate a slew of initiatives in Kochi, including the Kochi airport development project and the special block for cancer treatment at the Ernakulam General Hospital on October 2.

The next day, in Kochi, the CM and other ministers will attend a meeting to review various projects in Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Idukki districts.

The chief minister will inaugurate at 10am on Monday the cancer block built at a cost of Rs 25 crore with an area of 45,000 sqft. The cancer block has an ICU, a chemotherapy unit, wards for males and females, dormitory for bystanders, etc.

The CM will commission the import cargo terminal, besides inaugurating the Digi Yatra system and the airport emergency service at Cial later in the evening. The chief minister will also inaugurate the work on international terminal development, the aero launch, golf tourism and electronic security system.

As part of the international terminal development, a new apron with 15 lakh sqft area will be set up and eight new aerobridges will be constructed. Once the work is over, the number of parking bays will go up to 44. With the commissioning of the import cargo terminal, the airport’s capacity to handle cargo will rise to 2 lakh metric tonnes per year.

The regional-level project review meeting in various districts will start at Bolgatty Palace from 9.30am to 1.40pm. After 3.30 pm, a meeting to be attended by senior police officials will review the law-and-order issues in these districts.

Projects worth Rs 17 crore to be inaugurated at medical college:

As part of the initiative to construct a super specialty wing at the Ernakulam medical college, health minister Veena George will inaugurate 36 projects worth Rs 17 crore on Monday.Among those proposed were the inauguration of the renovated burn unit, ramps connecting operation theatres and wards, preventive clinic for patients bitten by animals, portable mobile radiography unit, four new escalators, various modern facilities at ophthalmology department, a ladies’ restroom, a high dependency unit at paediatric department, post operative unit, and renovation of wards.
