MUMBAI: Digi Yatra, the face-scan biometric technology that allows travellers to pass through airports without a boarding pass or an identity card, has been used by 1.4 crore passengers in the 14 months since its launch in December 2022. Delhi and Bengaluru have recorded, by far, the most Digi Yatra users, according to a source from the civil aviation ministry.
Available at 13 airports across India, the Digi Yatra app’s usage has risen steadily even as passenger traffic soars and queues lengthen. It was downloaded by 46 lakh users as of Feb 10, 20% up from 38 lakh users as on January 1.
Mumbai airport, where the app was introduced late, in Aug 2023, and at only at terminal 2, has recorded 3 lakh uses till Feb 11.
