Kejriwal vowed to support the movement till the end saying that he was ready to pay any price for it.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that the BJP government at Centre had curtailed the powers of Delhi government to punish him for supporting the farmers. He, however, added that one doesn’t need “power”, but “right intentions” to serve the people.

Addressing “Kisan Mahapanchayat” at HUDA Ground in Sector-9 in Jind, Mr. Kejriwal said that the Union government had brought a bill in Parliament divesting Delhi Chief Minister of all powers to “punish Kejriwal for supporting the farmers’ movement”.

Mr. Kejriwal said he may not have “power” but his intentions were right. “You don’t need power to serve people,” he quipped.

He vowed to support the movement till the end saying that he was ready to pay any price for it. “Your son is Chief Minister in Delhi. There is no need to worry,” said Mr. Kejriwal, assuring farmers of all support, amid loud cheers.

He said he was confident that the Union government would have to agree to farmers demand.

Despite pressure from the Union government and the threats to curtail his power, he did not gave permission to convert stadiums in Delhi into jails for agitating farmers, said Mr Kejriwal. “I put a noting on the file saying that farmers movement and their demands were justified and returned it,” said the Chief Minister.

He also condemned the police action on farmers in Rohtak on Saturday during Chief Minister Manohar Lal’s visit.
