This tournament has been in play since the 1972 season with Norman Wood winning the first event and Nicolai Hojaard winning the most recent. This will be an exciting tournament kicking off on Thursday.

Entering the first round of the Italian Open, McIlroy (+360) is the betting favorite with Matthew Fitzpatrick (+1000) and Hovland (+1100) as the next best bets.
Last year’s winner here, Hojgaard (+5000), has strong odds as an underdog. There has yet to be a golfer to win this tournament back-to-back. However, several have won the tournament multiple times including Sam Torrance, Bernhard Langer, Ian Poulter and, most recently, Francesco Molinari.
This is the first time this event has been played on the Marco Simone Golf Course since 1994, when Eduardo Romero won by one stroke with a total of 272 on his final scorecard, shooting under par every round.
