Delhi University (DU) is likely to start the trials for admission under the Extracurricular Activities (ECA) quota from July 31. The trials will encompass a wide range of activities, and designated colleges will serve as nodal centers for conducting the assessments.

This year, DU has 1,348 ECA seats, an increase from the 1,220 seats available last year. To ensure a fair evaluation process, candidates will be judged by an assessment committee formed for each activity, and their decisions will be considered final.

As per the guidelines issued by the ECA admission committee convener, candidates must bring their own equipment, mats, and writing materials, and sharing will not be allowed during the trials. Any misbehavior with university officials, experts, or judges during the process will result in disciplinary action against the candidate.

For activities like debate and digital media, topics will be announced on the spot, and paper reading will not be permitted. Candidates in the digital media category will be informed about the expected outcome on the spot and must bring their own equipment. The use of any gadget or unfair means will lead to the cancellation of the candidature.

In the theatre category, candidates are advised to avoid vulgarity, bitter insinuations, and personal remarks. Innocent satire or humor is expected during presentations.

The university is yet to release the schedule for trials under the sports quota, and candidates from outstation locations are advised to plan their journey and stay accordingly once the notification for ECA admissions is issued.
