Eatala Rajender’s exit significant political event since Telangana formation | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: The exit of Eatala Rajender from the ruling TRS and his announcement of resigning as MLA marks a significant shift in state politics.
Eatala was a long-time associate of TRS founder-president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He was among the few leaders who had joined hands with KCR nearly two decades ago to fight for a separate state and one of top three confidantes of KCR in the state cabinet before differences cropped up between the two a few years ago.
Political analysts admitted that Eatala is a prominent leader to leave the TRS but this important development on the political turf of Telangana cannot be underestimated or overexaggerated. “Political change is a process which is a culmination of several events and episodes. Though Eatala’s exit is a significant political event, entry or exit of one leader from a party cannot alter the entire political landscape or impact the existing coalition of political forces. It all depends on several other intervening variables. Politics operate on larger dynamics,” said former MLC professor K Nageshwar.
The big question being asked in political circles is whether Eatala’s influence will be confined to Huzurabad assembly constituency, Karimnagar district or will he be able to make it work in the entire state.
Analysts said one has to wait and see if his exit will precipitate the existing discontent in the TRS and see an exodus to other parties and how Eatala will capitalise on it.
“Huzurabad is a sitting seat of the TRS. If the BJP party wins it, it would actually be wresting a second seat from the ruling party after Dubbak. It will be a huge morale booster for the BJP and cause a serious dent to the ruling party’s claim that there is no alternative to it,” a political analyst observed. The TRS is on a high after winning the graduates MLC constituency elections and Nagarjuna Sagar bypoll.
The first thing Etala would want is to retain Huzurabad seat either by contesting himself or fielding his wife. Even the TRS would wait to see whether Eatala or his wife will contest to plan its strategy, sources said.
