Fire crews from Dundalk, Carlingford, Ardee and Monaghan Town were in attendance with Louth County Council Fire and Rescue Service’s Incident Command Unit also on site and the National Ambulance Service on hold due to the scale and nature of the fire.

The main Dundalk to Carlingford Road was closed for some time on Saturday as firefighters continued to try to get the blaze under control.

Diversions are in place and delays are still expected in the area.
