New Delhi: E-commerce major Flipkart has launched its first grocery fulfillment center (FC) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the company announced in a press release on Tuesday.
Spread over 1.35 lac square feet with a dispatch capacity of over 2.09 lac units per day, this FC will cater to 16,000 orders a day, as the company said in the release.
The center is said to generate 300 direct and indirect employment opportunities and help local sellers and small & medium farmers to connect to larger consumers.
Commenting on this launch, Shri Pratap Keshari Deb, Minister of Small & Medium Enterprise Department said, “In alignment with our state’s vision, Flipkart’s inaugural grocery fulfillment center marks a significant stride toward the rapid advancement of local MSMEs and farmers. This initiative provides them with access to the pan-India market and establishes stronger connections with end consumers.”
Further, this center will ensure delivery of groceries, staples and FMCG products to the consumers within 24 hours of order placing, read the release.
Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate affairs officer at Flipkart said, “This launch signifies more than convenience; it underscores our unwavering commitment to bridge the digital gap and uplift local economies.”
Currently, Flipkart Grocery has 24 fulfillment centers and operates in more than 1,800 cities and 10,000 pin code areas across India.
