Gadsden State Community College’s Adult Education Services currently is offering free classes for anyone interested in acquiring a nationally-recognized credential as a certified production technician through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, according to a press release.
The final student orientation and registration for the current semester ends Wednesday, according to the release. Classes will begin Monday. Morning and evening classes are scheduled to meet at Ralls Hall on the school’s East Broad Campus.
According to the release, the CPT certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled production workers in all sectors of manufacturing.
Students will be required to pass a certification assessment covering quality practices and measurement, manufacturing processes and production, safety and maintenance awareness.
The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, an industry-led non-profit, aims to train and certify foundational technical competencies for front-line technicians for in-demand, higher-wage, higher-skill jobs in advanced manufacturing and supply chain logistics. Technicians with MSSC certifications are qualified for 11.3 million jobs in front-line production, material handling and distribution, according to the release.
All books, materials, registration fees and certification fees for these classes fully are funded by a Gadsden State Community College Adult Education Services grant.
