Future Metals NL on Tuesday published an upgrade to the mineral resource estimate for its Panton platinum group metals and nickel project in Australia.

The mining company said Panton has been estimated a total resource of 129 million metric tons containing 5.0 million ounces of palladium, platinum and gold, 239,000 tons of nickel and 20,000 tons of copper. This represents a twofold increase in PGM and a sixfold increase in nickel in 12 months.

The tonnage was largely in the lower-confidence inferred category, with only 8 million tons in the indicated category.

Chief Executive Jardee Kininmonth said there remains significant exploration upside, with targets yet to be tested in a drilling program and metallurgy works.
