Here’s Why We Think GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO) Is Well Worth Watching

[ad_1]

Investors are often guided by the idea of discovering ‘the next big thing’, even if that means buying ‘story stocks’ without any revenue, let alone profit. Sometimes these stories can cloud the minds of investors, leading them to invest with their emotions rather than on the merit of good company fundamentals. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.

If this kind of company isn’t your style, you like companies that generate revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO). While profit isn’t the sole metric that should be considered when investing, it’s worth recognising businesses that can consistently produce it.

GoPro’s Improving Profits

In business, profits are a key measure of success; and share prices tend to reflect earnings per share (EPS) performance. So for many budding investors, improving EPS is considered a good sign. It’s an outstanding feat for GoPro to have grown EPS from US$0.36 to US$2.39 in just one year. Even though that growth rate may not be repeated, that looks like a breakout improvement.

It’s often helpful to take a look at earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company’s growth. The good news is that GoPro is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 2.5 percentage points to 10%, over the last year. Both of which are great metrics to check off for potential growth.
