New Delhi: The India International Trade Fair (IITF) has kicked off with much fervour at Pragati Maidan here on Monday with the theme ‘Vocal for Local and Local to Global’. This year, special focus will be on states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, and over 2,500 exhibitors from across the country will take part in the fair.

The fair is open for business visitors from November 14 to 18, while the general public can visit from November 19 to 27. The fair has been organised in the New Exhibition Complex and Halls 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 12A at the Pragati Maidan.

The visitors need to pre-book their tickets from the 67 Delhi metro stations listed by IITF or visit http://www.indiatradefair.com to book the tickets. The entry tickets will not be sold at any of the Pragati Maidan gates and Supreme Court Metro Station gates.

The fair was inaugurated by Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal. Addressing the gathering, Goyal said, “Let’s make an effort that we should have another equally grand annual fair whose theme is (based) on India’s self-reliance.”

India Trade Promotion Organisation’s (ITPO) PRO Vivekanand Vivek informed that exhibitors from not just 29 Indian states and union territories would take part in the fair, but the IITF would also see participation from 14 foreign nations.

“Besides, 36 stalls from central ministries, commodity boards, PSUs and private companies like Jindal Steel, Tata Steel, Titan etc., are also participating in the fair,” he added.

At IITF 2022, entrepreneurs from Delhi have been given a chance to participate in the Delhi Pavilion of the fair by setting up stalls at subsidised rates. They have set up various stalls for food products, gems and jewellery, handicrafts and handloom, textiles, electric appliances and electric vehicles.

The IITF is also witnessing participation from various foreign nations like Afghanistan, Iran and Vietnam.

Uttar Pradesh in limelight

The UP Pavilion at the India International Trade Fair was inaugurated by chief secretary DS Mishra on Monday. The pavilion has set up 101 stalls under the ‘one district-one product’ scheme of the UP government.

“Uttar Pradesh is in focus in this year’s IITF along with Kerala. Union minister Piyush Goyal also said that UP has immense potential when it comes to tourism and industries. There is a highly positive environment in UP right now,” Mishra said.

He added that an online trade fair had also been organised in UP on November 16 where products from various cities like Varanasi, Jaunpur and Banda can be purchased online via the fair.
