Each time IndiGo adds 100 planes to its fleet, one of its competitors lands in the ICU. Over the last eight years, as IndiGo’s fleet size reached a century, double century, and a triple century, three major Indian carriers faced heavy turbulence. Is it mere coincidence?

When IndiGo hit the century mark in fleet size in the winter of 2015, after a decade since its inception, the airline became the third in the country to enter the 100-plane club.There were no big parties or grand speeches. IndiGo said it will fund the education of 100 underprivileged children to mark the feat.
