Jharkhand’s 1st vistadome train flagged off from new Giridih station, ET Infra

BOKARO: The Jharkhand’s first vistadome coach-equipped train was flagged off from New Giridih railway station for Ranchi on Tuesday. Union minister of state for education Annapurna Devi, who is the incumbent Lok Sabha MP from Koderma constituency, flagged off the train’s inaugural run.

Besides Annapurna Devi, Giridih MP Chandraprakash Chaudhary, Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar, Barhi MLA Amit Yadav, Jamua MLA Kedar Hazra and Gandey MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed and Dhanbad divisional railway manager Kamal Kishore Sinha and others were present on the occasion.

The vistadome coach has a sitting capacity of 40 passengers. The chairs can be rotated up to 180°. The coach will have a refrigerator, microwave ovens, coffee-vending machines and several on-board amenities. The train’s composition, the SER said, would consist of one vistadome coach, two AC chair car coaches, three general chair car coaches and six general sitting coaches. The train will cover 314km.

Locals said they were excited with the start of the train. “We thank the central government for the move,” said Sanjiv Sinha, a resident.

However, the train which was flagged off from New Giridih station will be inaugurated again from Ranchi on Wednesday. The Ranchi railway division on Tuesday evening said the train will be flagged off by Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth at 6 am.

In a statement, Seth claimed that the train’s operations were a result of his initiative. “Several meetings were held with Railway minister and the Railway Board chairman. This is the result of those efforts,” the Ranchi MP said in a statement.

Railway officials clarified that the train was flagged off as a special train from New Giridih while Wednesday’s inauguration in Ranchi will be held for the regular services.
