As the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami draws closer, the Railway Police Force (RPF) has been accused of forcefully collecting donations of Rs 2,100 in the name of god in UP’s Kanpur. The donation slips are being cut from the vendors working in the Central Station.
Janmashtami will be celebrated on Friday, August 19th. As per Hindu beliefs, Janmashtami is the auspicious day to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.
A receipt of Rs 2,100 is being deducted from the vendors working in Kanpur Central station. The receipt has the stamp of Shri Krishna Janmashtami RPF Barrack Jhakarkati Kanpur. Vendors allege that RPF is extorting donations in the name of God.
It is said that the fund collection has been informed to the Railway General Manager, General Manager North Central Railway (GMNCR), Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), and higher officials of CTM and RPF in the tweet.
An investigation has been ordered into the matter now.
“The matter has come to notice through the authorities. The message tweeted to RPF has been forwarded. The matter is being probed,” said Ashutosh Singh, Deputy CTM.
“The matter is under consideration. The whole matter is being investigated. One Inspector and two constables have been deputed for the investigation. Action will be taken based on the report,” said Buddha Pal Singh, RPF Commander.
