Kohima: Federal Bank launches RBI wide intensive awareness prog | MorungExpress

Federal Bank, Kohima has launched the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) wide intensive awareness programme from November 1-30. 

Joy Justin Bongcher, Assistant Superintendent of Post Office, Nagaland division, (Kohima) said the banking sector need to take the awareness on cyber security and customer grievance redressal mechanism to the general public. 

He was addressing a section of bankers, both central and private banks during the programme which was launched by Federal Bank, Kohima in the state capital on November 1. He cited cyber security and customer grievance redressal as important and crucial aspect for the people. 

As bankers, he said were “custodian of public money and it is our moral duty and responsibility to take care of their money and their trust.”

Stating that under digital India, technology has played an important role in banking sector today. He said bankers need to take care of cyber security and fraud need to be taken care. 

Joy said banking sector was not only profit making business but a big social responsibility. He later called the service providers to take financial equality to the masses through the awareness programme. 

The speaker informed that along with the rest of the country, all the 16 districts of Nagaland will be participating in the month-long awareness programme in spreading the initiative by the government of India through the Reserve Bank of India which began today and will culminate on November 30. 

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India Post Payment Banks in September, 2018 with a vision for promoting financial inclusion among low income and underprivileged sections of the society at the last mile by leveraging postal network in the country and technology driven banking solution. 

The programme was chaired by Rishikesh Baruah, Officer Federal Bank and the chief organizer was Rupam Dey, Branch head, Federal Bank. The programme addressed topics to enhance public awareness on financial customer rights, grievance redressal mechanism and awareness on safe banking practices, fraud transactions.
