Meesho crosses 11 lakh sellers on its platform

New Delhi: E-commerce marketplace Meesho, has crossed 11 lakh sellers on its platform with more than 6 lakh small businesses signing up in the last one year. This is driven by policies like zero per cent commission and its focus on creating a level playing field for all sellers, the company said in a media release.

The eight-year old marketplace shared that 80 per cent of sellers who are new-to-e-commerce used it as their first shopping platform and nearly 50 per cent of these sellers come from tier 2 and beyond regions.

According to the release, about 70,000 MSMEs expanded their business with the platform in 2022. During this period, the e-commerce unicorn also recorded 140 million annual transacting users on its platform – a sizable portion of India’s internet population.

Sellers on the platform saved Rs 3,700 crore in commissions last year, which helped them maximize their earnings and reinvest them back to grow the business, the company added.

“Meesho doesn’t segregate sellers on the basis of tiers, nor does it have private labels or an inventory-led play. Our democratic approach is evident from the fact that we have the lowest GMV concentration by suppliers in the industry,” said its CXO -Business , Utkrishta Kumar.

Currently, the e-commerce platform has about 100 million active product listings across 30 categories.
