Nagaland, September 10 (MExN): A two-day Youth Leader Training was conducted by We, The People Abhiyan, in collaboration with National Foundation for India (NFI) in Dimapur recently.
A press release from the organisers stated that this training is part of the Constitution for Citizens Action (CCA) programme, which aims to address the issues of low levels of citizen empowerment in our country. This experiential learning programme, being conducted over two-days, focuses on the most critical concepts of the constitution, values, rights and laws – and their application to the issues faced in daily life.
Neha Yadav, Head of Partnerships at We, The People Abhiyan said, “It is very clear to us that every citizen should participate, individually and collectively, in making all lives equal, free, just and dignified. With this in mind, we have partnered with National Foundation for India to reach citizens residing in the north eastern states of our country.’ He added that ‘this is the first time ‘We, The People Abhiyan’ will be working with a Civil Society Partner in this region, and given the geographical cover this is a very important step for us.’
Imsutoshi, Program Officer, NFI stated that as NFI works for the capacity development of individuals and CSOs to promote leadership skills to make impact on society, “this association with We, The People Abhiyan (WTPA) will support us in training our youth leaders, who are working on varied issues such as education in rural areas, social security schemes/entitlements, youth empowerment, for differently- abled, alcohol addiction and so on. We are excited to take this step and hope our leaders are able to create a deeper impact in the society.”
The programme conducted here at Dimapur was co-funded by European Union.
