After seven days in the hospital following major surgery for her leg injury, actor Nisha Rawal has finally returned home. While the 38-year-old had a tough time dealing with the situation as a single parent, she chooses to look at the brighter side of things.

“I was in the hospital for almost a week, but I did not want my son Kavish to be there as it’s not safe. On the first day, though, we got special permission from the hospital by telling them how I’m a single parent and Kavish needs me… I would have done it on other days as well, but his school started. However, we had breakfast and dinner together over video calls. I choose to look at it positively because I got to talk to him for hours. Otherwise, I only get a few minutes of video time with him because of work,” Rawal tells us.

Ask her if there are times when managing everything — child, health and work — as a single parent breaks her, and the Shaadi Mubarak actor says, “I’m human, and I do feel it at times. But when God takes away something, he gives you more. You have to understand ki woh kaunsi cheezein hain.”

Rawal, who has separated from her actor-husband Karan Mehra, says whenever she feels weak, she thinks of how single mums across the world manage their children. “I count my blessings and feel I’m very fortunate. I am content and Kavish is a happy child. That’s what matters,” she says.

Recalling the painful episode of getting injured during a cricket match, Rawal says, “I heard my bones cracking as I fell and I knew something major has happened. I was taken to the hospital and admitted immediately. My tibia broke into two, and the fibula had a partial crack. Had I not received first-aid, I would have broken my fibula and my foot would have hung loose.” For now, a rod has been inserted that goes from the actor’s knee to her ankle.

Talking about her recovery Rawal says there’s still a long way to go till she’s fully fit. “For some reason, I developed swelling three days after the surgery. But I really wanted to go home because I had told Kavish that mama abhi aayegi. I really wanted to see his face,” wraps up Rawal, who is on complete bed rest.
