MUMBAI: Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday informed the Maharashtra assembly that the instructions were issued to the authorities to check the vehicles travelling at toll booths on Samruddhi highway to prevent their overcrowding.
His statement came while responding to MLA Sanjay Raimulkar who pointed to the ghastly mishap that claimed six lives and left seven injured on the Samruddhi expressway near Mehkar in Buldhana district on Sunday morning.
Leader of opposition Ajit Pawar demanded that the government take Raimulkar’s information seriously and repair the blackspots.
Admitting that the issue raised by Raimulkar and Pawar was serious, Fadnavis said few such accident-prone spots were found on Samruddhi. “We have issued directives to repair those blackspots. We are soon implementing intelligent traffic management system (ITMS) on the road,”Fadnavis said.
