Padabali, the sister organisation of Jogesh Mime Academy, is coming up with two back to back shows— Kolkata Collage and Tota Kahani. The second one will be presented as a multimedia show.
Talking about Kolkata Collage, Prakriti Datta, the director and coordinator of both the shows said that it is goi9ng to be a collection of several stories. “A person goes around the city and sees several incidents. These incidents would be compiled into one story to show the real Kolkata,” she added. A total of five mime artists will be working on the project. Meanwhile, Tota Kahini is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s creation of the same name.
In the past, the same group staged a mime show based on the various characters in Satyajit Ray’s films and books. For the unique production, Padabali had secured special permission from Sandip Ray and it was a hit. Other than Goopy and Bagha, the story included Devi from the film Devi, the female protagonist of Mahanagar and Durga from Pather Panchali, among others.
