HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate a new railway line from Jaklair to Krishna to the nation, on Sunday. The PM will also flag off the inaugural train service from Krishna railway station to Kacheguda, virtually at a function slated to be held at Mahabubnagar on Sunday.

The new rail line between Jaklair – Krishna for a distance of 37.48 km is part of of the Mahabubnagar-Munirabad new line project which is being executed by SCR.

The project, completed at a cost of nearly 504.8 crore, added four new station buildings — Jaklair, Maganoor, Makthal and Kunsi.

The new line connects the hinterland areas of Southern Telangana by bringing them onto rail map. Further, the freight transportation will also get a big boost with increased transportation of coal, cement, clinker and mines through this route. It reduces the distance from Hyderabad/Secunderabad to Hubballi and Goa by more than 100 km.

The new train service is being introduced between Kacheguda-Raichur-Kacheguda. The train will be operated between Kacheguda and Raichur connecting Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet and Raichur districts. This is the shortest route between Kacheguda and Raichur.

This apart, the PM will also lay the foundation for several other developmental projects worth 13,500 crore at Mahabubnagar.
